Blogs of Note


Hi Friends! How was your first day of the new year? I hope it was a blast!

As customary, at the beginning of every month, I will add a new blog to my list of blogs that I read. I started this habit back in September last year, adding a blog from the previous month's Blogs of Note winners that I find appealing to moi.

I want to do something a little different this time, since this is the 5th month... by going retrospective!

I looked at the Archives of Blogs of Note, and the oldest archived Blogs of Note is back in January 2001. Wouldn't it be interesting to see if these Blogs of Note winners are still blogging?

A great disappointment. There were only 5 blogs there. The first one is up for sale (closed), second one redirects to a Vietnamese-written blog (sorry, it's not that I fought in Vietnam, but I really can't read Vietnamese), the third and fourth are non-existent (Cannot find server - The page cannot be displayed), and the 5th stopped blogging in 2002.

So packing up my hopes, I stopped by at the February 2001 archives. Twenty seven blogs there! Aha! At least one of these MUST be still blogging!

Let's see...

1. Stopped blogging in 2002.

2. STILL BLOGGING! But... it's in Bahasa Indonesia, and it's a multi-contributor blog. Somehow, I'm just not keen to add a multi-contributor blog, because it's like many blogs compressed into one blog, and you have to read several different minds at one place. NO THANKS!

3. Ain't a blog! It's a website offering medical resources for the Pocket PC.

4. HTTP 404 Not Found - The page cannot be found.

5. This Website Is Coming Soon. Great...

6. Sorry... that page wasn't found on the FSTV Website (Error 404). Support FSTV - get a free dish Network Dish. Duh...

7. Relocated to xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.com Ah! She's still blogging! But wait... let's see the others first, before I decide on which blog to add.

16. He's still blogging! So now I have 2 to choose from. Let's finish the rest first.

17. Stopped blogging on the same day she received the Blogs of Note award. Aw... if only it came earlier.

18. She's still blogging but me no understand Dutch. And she doesn't seem to like visitors. No commenting allowed.

19. She's still blogging but no commenting allowed. And it looks more like a logbook, than a blog.

20. Stopped blogging in 2006.

21. Stopped blogging in 2004.

22. He/she's still blogging but no commenting allowed, and also, don't really look like a blog.

23. Stopped blogging in 2002.

And SO! I will choose between #7 and #16. And interestingly, both had something to do with Seattle.

Welcome to Dean H. Saxe from Full Frontal Nerdity!

His blog appeals to me, because firstly, he is a runner! Yay! And secondly, he seems to have a good knowledge about computers! Or programming. Though I have quite elementary knowledge about computers, but when problems happen, I know nuts about solving it, or troubleshooting it, other than pressing Ctrl-Alt-Delete, or restarting my computer.

It's just so interesting that he had been blogging for such a long time! I hope to emulate that too!
